More than just a move

More than just a move

Sagar his journey to i8c NL

They say time flies when you’re having fun, and my first year at i8c NL is proof of that. My name is Sagar, and my path to becoming a Solution Architect here involves 16 years of tech, three global giants, and a big move across the world. Ready to see the ‘logic’ behind my journey? I’ll take you through it.

The ‘Logic’ behind my move

I started my professional journey back in 2009 and right now, I have a little over 16 years (you do the math!) of experience in software engineering, cloud architecture and enterprise integration. Summarized, I am a Computer Science Engineering graduate and have spent most of my career designing and delivering large-scale, mission-critical systems.

Over the years, I’ve worked with global organizations like Microsoft, KPMG and Shell. I am particularly proud of building systems that millions of people use daily. For instance:

  • At Microsoft, I contributed to the nationwide OV-chipkaart implementation in the Netherlands.
  • At KPMG, I served as an Azure Architect for a major UK government ERP.
  • At Shell, I designed Europe-wide digital payment platforms and the Shell mobile app, processing millions of transactions monthly.

Beyond project work, I love giving back to the tech community through public speaking and sharing knowledge on my website.

In 2025, I made the decision to move from India to the Netherlands, both for personal growth and to work closer to the European technology ecosystem. While exploring opportunities, i8c NL stood out because of its strong engineering culture and architectural maturity. I noticed they had a focus on long-term value, rather than short-term delivery, which really spoke to me. Our discussions felt honest and collaborative which made i8c NL a natural choice.

A day in the life

Today, I’m a Solution Architect at i8c NL. This means I design and guide enterprise-grade integration solutions on Microsoft Azure. I work closely with customers, product owners and delivery teams to shape architectures that are scalable, secure and future-proof.

My role covers end-to-end solution design, architectural governance and supporting teams during implementation, ensuring that what we build today, continues to deliver value tomorrow.

A day in my life? It involves architecture discussions, solution reviews and the guidance of teams through complex integration challenges. Alongside client work, I also invest some time in community contributions, writing and preparing tech talks. This keeps me sharp and connected to the community.

Looking at my career path until now, I find I’m strong at simplifying complex problems and turning them into clear, pragmatic architectures. That’s why I also love to explain complex topics in a way that’s accessible to everyone. Next to that, I’m especially interested in exploring the application of AI when combined with integration platforms.

To the Ace Aviator and beyond!

This ambition to build platforms that last is exactly why I feel at home here. At i8c NL, I found a rare combination of technical depth and ownership. We are encouraged to think critically, challenge designs, and take full responsibility for architectural decisions.

i8c NL has an environment that prioritizes quality and professional growth without compromising on work-life balance.

In five years, I see i8c NL even more firmly established as the go-to partner for complex architectural challenges, a place where thought leadership and deep expertise are the standard. For me, the trust and collaborative spirit here make it the perfect place to invest my energy for the long term. Want to be part of this journey? Take a look at our open job positions!
